House of Amitié - Useful Information

Sustainability

As advocates of sustainability, House of Amitié responsibly source all products, using natural fabrics produced in Europe and selected wallpaper designs digitally printed onto Eco Non-Woven Paper. In addition to this, our 'Mica Coated Fibrous Non-Woven Wallpapers are partially made from recycled plastic bottles. All inks used the printed process of our products are water-based, non-toxic and environmentally safe - free from VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Jemma and Angela both strongly believe in supporting British manufacturing, with a commitment to print all of our products within in the UK, using digital printing for all of our designs. Being an eco friendly print option, this consumes less energy and water than other more traditional print methods. By working to this print discipline, it also produces less waste with no harsh chemicals required in the process.

Whilst we understand there will always be waste, as sadly the wallpapers themselves are not recyclable (due to the inks) over time we will share with you a variety of fun and inventive ways to use your wallpaper scraps and off-cuts!

Every effort is made to use recycled and sustainably sourced ingredients within our products right through to our stationary and packaging. Eco friendly packaging materials are used where possible and at House of Amitié we re-use all packaging materials that come into us.

Inks used in the printing process:

The inks we use are water based and certificated as Azo dye free, OEKO-TEX certified and to European REACH standards. The UK Print Houses we work with ensure that any surplus inks/waste products are disposed of by specialists.

Wallpaper and Fabric specifications:

Wallpaper:

Some of our wallpapers are printed on Eco Non-Woven stock, with others printed onto a fibrous base with a luxe Mica finish (this substrate is partially made from recycled plastic bottles). The Mica finish offers a beautiful iridescence to the wallpaper and really brings the patterns to life, especially when they catch the light.

Fabric:

We currently offer 4 fabric types but not all are available in all patterns/colour-ways.

Our statement Velvet is a very high quality blend of 88% cotton and 12% polyester. Velvet adds a touch of luxury, comfort and warmth to interiors and its soft feel makes it a popular choice for many applications in the home. The sheen catches the light beautifully giving a really opulent finish.

Our 100% Linen is the lightest of our fabrics on offer, premium and beautifully textural, sourced from Belgium.

Our Linen / Cotton Union comprises 60% linen and 40% cotton. This slightly more durable & heavier weight linen union option is perfect for a whole host of interior projects.

Our 100% wool is made from premium New Zealand Wool, which is then spun, woven and printed with our marbled designs all in Yorkshire. Our wool fabric is perfect for upholstery and panelling projects - being incredibly warm and durable, suitable for commercial settings.

Why We Love Linen!

Linen is made from flax which grows using rainwater and very little fertiliser, with every part of the plant used in producing the fabric. With zero waste and eco friendly credentials, it not only sits with our natural, eco and reduced waste principles, but all our linen yarns are sourced close to home from Europe. Our linen fabrics are then woven in either the UK or Europe and are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, meaning that they contain no harmful chemicals. At House of Amitié we believe in using the best ingredients coupled with ethical and sustainable practises whilst our materials remaining firmly fit for purpose. With linen being both breathable and hardwearing as well as having a stunning textural aspect to them, they are an ideal base fabric for our magical marbled designs!

Due to being such a natural fabric, our linen fabrics contain slubs which can vary in texture and appearance - which only enhances the beauty of this luxurious and sustainable material further.

Sample Swatches

Whilst it's great to view our designs and colours online, nothing beats a sample. Colours can vary from screen to screen depending upon brightness and your computer/phone settings. Some of our wallpapers also feature an iridescent mica finish and fibrous texture to them which is definitely worth seeing and feeling for yourselves. Likewise, the fabrics are wonderfully tactile and with a sample you can check and feel the weight of the fabric qualities that we have within our range. Our samples are all presented in a hand stamped paper wallet made from recycled fibres, as picking and choosing your new wallpapers and fabrics should be a fun part of the process of updating your interior space!

If you are looking to cross-match the same pattern against multiple products such as wallpapers and fabrics, we recommend getting a sample of each quality as there are differences in colours due to the different base materials and inks used.

Batch Numbers:

Wallpapers are always printed in batches. Rolls printed at the same time / within their 'batch' will all have the same batch number marked on the roll's label.

Likewise our fabrics are printed in small print runs to your required length.

Being a small artisan brand we print on demand for both our wallpapers and fabrics, so each order is bespoke and to the customer's requirements. There maybe very minor variations between different batches / print runs so it's important to ensure you order enough wallpaper or fabric to cover your project.

Wallpaper / Fabric Application

We recommend you hold on booking any contractors or tradespeople until you are in receipt of your wallpaper rolls / fabrics and have checked them.

All our wallpapers are 'paste the wall' and we recommend using a light grade ready mix tub of adhesive.

Recommended Fabric Care:

We recommend that all of our fabrics are Dry Clean only as minor shrinkage could occur with washing the fabrics.
